CSA shares from Whistlepig & Black Fox Farms

Our CSA is a collaboration between Whistlepig Farm & Black Fox Farm, two small farms growing on shared land in the Boise foothills.

The CSA runs 20 weeks from May to October with produce from both farms included in every share.

As a collaborative CSA, we’re able to offer a wide variety of crops while insuring against crop failures. Plus, your membership supports two farms at once!

Why join a CSA?

Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is the best way to support local farms while enjoying high-quality produce grown in your community.

The CSA model provides farmers with early-season cashflow to buy seeds, compost, and other critical supplies for the upcoming growing season.

As a CSA member, you get ultra-fresh food grown to the highest standards – all right here in Boise. You’ll build a connection with where your food comes from, learn about eating seasonally, and discover new vegetables and ways of cooking.

How does the CSA work?

Our CSA includes 20 weeks of produce from May to October with a two-week break in early July.

We offer full shares ($880) and half shares ($450) with four CSA pickup sites in Boise or home delivery.

Full share members receive a share every week (20 total). Best for families of 3+, veggie-loving couples, or to share with a friend or neighbor.

Half share members receive a share every other week (10 total). We recommend half shares for couples and singles.

What’s in a CSA share?

Each share is approximately a $40-45 value with 7-12 items chosen by your farmers. The standard “recipe” for a CSA share is:

1-3 leafy greens + 1-2 root vegetables + 1-2 onion and/or garlic + 1 herb + 2-4 seasonal items

We grow a wide variety of vegetables and herbs for CSA. Rhubarb, blackberries, and currants are available seasonally, along with specialty products like garlic powder, black garlic, and baby ginger. We occasionally source produce from other local, organic farms such as potatoes from True Roots Farm and Kings Crown Organic Farm.

Egg subscriptions

We offer a limited number of egg subscriptions from Black Fox Farm’s pasture-raised chickens. Egg subscriptions sell out quickly, so act early if you want to enjoy farm-fresh eggs all season!

Paying for your CSA membership

We encourage paying in-full for your CSA membership when possible. Your early CSA payment directly supports us in buying seeds, compost, and other supplies for the upcoming season.

We offer a payment plan to split your CSA cost into three payments with a deposit due at sign-up. Email Lyndsey at whistlepigfarmco@gmail.com for more information.
